Beginning Band

Our beginning band meets during five classes. Mr. Baldwin teaches beginning high brass and beginning percussion, Mr. Amendt teaches beginning low brass, and Ms. Barnes teaches beginning clarinet and flute. A select group of students are chosen to switch to saxophone, oboe, French horn, euphonium, and tuba in the spring. Students are encouraged to begin studying band in the 6th grade; however, they may begin their studies in the 7th grade. The beginning band performs at two concerts, a contest, and students have an opportunity to perform a solo at a beginning band solo competition.
